General help

Systems with Multi Core and/or Hyper Threading:
Set different CPU affinities.
Start Aequitas and the game, then tab out to the desktop and launch the task manager.
Process listing -> "aequitas.exe" -> "CPU Affinity" -> Check only the last CPU
Process listing -> game process (i.e. "hl.exe") -> "CPU Affinity" -> Check all other CPUs not being used by Aequitas
Background: For some reason Windows doesn't get to manage the logical CPUs properly to avoid both processes crossing their way.

Keep the game folders clean:
All files inside your game directory are being checked, some more and some less accurate. The less files Aequitas has to check the less ressources it needs.
A Worst Case would look like this: A slow hardly defragmented harddrive in addition to an anti-virus checking every single files once its being used and thousands of old demos lying around.
This all can lead to many files being checked using a lot of ressources.

Disable Write Combining:
Desktop -> Rightclick -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshooting -> uncheck the box "enable Write Combining"

Reduce the ingame screen resolution:
In case you are sure the screenshots are causing lags during the game it helps to reduce the screen resolution ingame as a smaller resolution causes less data traffic due to smaller images being saved. This should only be for older systems, though.
